Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions? We have answers. Learn your HVAC basics and the benefits of a
hybrid heating system from Enbridge Sustain.

It’s a hybrid heating and cooling system that pairs an electric heat pump with a natural gas furnace. The heat pump works to heat and cool your home efficiently until the outside temperature drops significantly and the system proactively switches to your furnace.

Depending on the specific equipment in use, heat pumps can operate all the way down to between -25 and -30 degrees Celsius. However, the colder it gets, the less efficient it becomes for the heat pump to heat your home, since the amount of heat it generates decreases as the outdoor temperature drops.

A heat pump looks similar to a conventional AC unit, with the addition of a stand that keeps the condenser inside away from any ice buildup on the ground. The key difference is that a heat pump not only cools your home in the summer but can also heat it in the winter!

There isn’t one number for everyone. The amount you’ll save depends on a range of factors, including the efficiency of the heat pump, the age and efficiency of your furnace, outdoor temperatures and the set point where the system switches. Depending on local weather, you could heat your home exclusively with electricity using the heat pump, while during more frigid conditions you might only use your gas furnace.

No. If your furnace is in good condition, you can simply replace your air conditioner with a heat pump that will work in conjunction with the furnace for a reliable, all-season home energy system. Our innovative hybrid HVAC system and thermostat can be integrated with almost any existing furnace model.

Taking local conditions, your current equipment configurations and your preferences into consideration, the integrated thermostat and smart controls built into our innovative hybrid HVAC system ensure that you’re heating and cooling your home as efficiently as possible, all year long. SmartFlow from Enbridge Sustain proactively thinks about how to keep your home comfortable while lowering energy costs and emissions, so you don’t have to.

The experts at Enbridge Sustain can help you determine the rebates that apply to you and match you to a personalized HVAC system. Call 1-833-947-3850 or fill out the form and a Sustainable Energy Consultant from an Enbridge Sustain partner will walk you through the assessment and planning process.

More advanced than a conventional AC unit, an air-source heat pump has additional technology built in, which allows it to provide reliable air conditioning in the summer as well as energy-efficient heating in the winter. With no upfront cost to install a hybrid HVAC system from Enbridge Sustain and studies showing homeowners enjoyed energy savings of up to 30%1, the benefits outweigh any difference in price over the long-term.

Enbridge Sustain customers get peace of mind with service and repairs covered for the duration of the contract and convenient, all-inclusive monthly billing. Simply call 1-833-947-3850 and a qualified technician from an Enbridge Sustain partner in your area will take care of any issue. Enjoy hassle-free maintenance and after-sale customer service from our friendly support team.

There’s nothing to worry about. If you’re renting the equipment, the terms and agreement will be transferred to the new owners when you sell your home. Your real estate lawyer will handle the details of this process once the sale of your home is completed.

Yes, if you decide you want to own the equipment rather than rent it, you can buy it out at any time. Before doing so, be sure to read the terms listed in your rental agreement.
